We’ve just hit 75,000 copies sold, 1 week after 1.0 release. Absolutely wild for a game made by a tiny solodev, I’m beyond grateful.
It’s Christmas time! Here comes the first major post-1.0 update. After a few minor patches over the last weeks, this one brings new content and tons of improvements inspired by your feedback on Discord!
There are now 45 PLAYABLE CHARACTERS in the game
NEW CONTENT
NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTER : The Unwrapped 🎁 (Present Mimic Boss)
+6 points randomly distributed among Primary Stats at end of a wave
+6 points randomly distributed among Primiary Stats on Character Level Up
No Stat Upgrade choice On Level Up
NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTER: Slapreach
Specialist of melee attacks but have VERY high range by default
NEW ATTACK: Disk Turret (Turret, Disk, Upgradable)
4 NEW ACHIEVEMENTS, there are now 138 Achievements and Unlockables
Besides the new content, here are a non-exhaustive list of tons of changes and enhancements based on the feedback of players on the Discord
EVERY ATTACK NOW HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE TWIST
At the very start of development, Noobs Are Coming included a few “standard” attacks like the Axe or Wand. They were originally meant as simple starter options to tweak Shop RNG while the 70+ crazier attacks were the real stars you’d discover mid-run.
But over time I realized: why should any attack feel generic? So I removed those few basics that didn’t bring something new to the table.
Now, almost every single attack in the game comes with its own quirky mechanic, wild interactions, and fresh gameplay possibilities, giving new players a much better first impression of the huge build diversity and all the innovative mechanics the game has to offer.
BALANCING:
The Character that allow you to merge the effect of 2 other characters is now faster to unlock (requires 15 unlocked characters instead of 25)
Bossfights against heroic Noobs at waves 15/20/25 are now harder
Heroic Noobs spawns 1 second after the beginning of the Bossfight waves 15/20/25 instead of immediately
The game is now a bit harder in D5
Self-Death Knight Character can now die when killing an enemy and having only 1 HP (he is meant to be a funny challenging character, one of those that require to completely adapt the strategy when playing)
Difficulty 5 is now faster to unlock (previous post 1.0 patch already made it faster, but now it is even faster, only 1 win in each difficulty to unlock the next)
Investment Item: -3 Soul Harvest => Soul Harvest Modification reduced by 100%
Some economic attacks do a bit less damage to counter balance the fact economy build can be pretty powerful, some other attacks were buffed
Lots of tiny balancing tweaks across the board (the list above is non-exhaustive)
QOL Enhancements
QOL: Difficulties now display some info in how they differ
QOL: Start Run Menu now correctly displays max difficulty beaten for characters in Co-Op Mode too (frame colors corresponding to the Max difficulty beaten with each character different for single player and for coop mode)
QOL: the option that allow to hide noob text bubbles now also hide text bubbles from the playable character boss and heroic noobs (it now hides all bubble during waves)
Misc/Bugfixes
Bugfix: Character Merge feature allowed to pick a character that wasn’t unlocked yet
Bugfix: solved a few very rare niche and device-specific issues that some users reported on the Discord (there is still some other I need to investigate)
Bugfix: there was an exploit with Investment Item
Improved translations based on user feedback on Discord
Minor Update 1.2.2
Update 1.2.0 published 1 hour ago made the Remote Play Together invite button sometime fail to appear in Steam Overlay, it is now fixed

Balancing: damages from noobs were a bit overtuned in 1.2.0
New difficulty tooltip now have a very subtle arrow before each line like the Characters tooltips
Bugfix: Heroes Bossfights didn’t spawn while retrying fail waves (Regressive bug that was introduced in 1.2.0 adding 1 second delay before boss spawn)
The Unwrapped New Character 🎁: +6 Random Primary Stats on Level Up => +4 (was too overpowered according to user feedback on Discord)

Balancing Tweaks
Tweaked some SFX
The camera is now slightly more zoomed out in singleplayer mod
Bugfix: starting a new run after winning a previous run in Difficulty 4 or 5 made the first wave timer to 60 seconds instead of 20
Minor Update 1.2.7
Very important bugfix: Fixed a rare issue where, after leaving the game open while the computer entered sleep mode, some content or achievements could fail to unlock properly once gameplay resumed.
Tanking Minion: blue tier => green tier
Liquidator Synergies: Water, Laser => Water, Gun (Laser synergy was removed a long time ago but Liquidator still had this synergy)
Minotaur: added Glaxier as available starter attacks
