We’re so excited to finally share something we’ve been working on for a long time - Hidden Memories of The Gardens Between is a reimagining of our time-bending puzzle game The Gardens Between rebuilt from the ground up for virtual reality. This isn't just a VR port. It's The Gardens Between as you've never seen it before, with double the content and entirely new ways to interact with Arina and Frendt's story.
Making this game has been a really special continuation of the journey we started all the way back in 2011 with the first prototype of a “Minority Report” inspired time manipulation game. Since then, at least three million people have played The Gardens Between! Members of our original team have scattered throughout the globe and gone on to be part of making so many incredible games. We’re proud that almost the entire original development team reunited for Hidden Memories in some form, bringing the same care and thoughtfulness that made the game special back into this project along with a wealth of new experience. We’ve also been joined by new contributors who’ve brought fresh perspectives and new ideas to The Gardens Between world.
Here’s what you can expect from Hidden Memories of The Gardens Between:
- A fully VR-native experience: We've completely transformed how you interact with the world. Reach out and physically manipulate time itself.
- A new story: Hidden Memories of The Gardens Between begins two decades after the original story, as Frendt is in the midst of moving. Upon discovering the diary of his childhood best friend, Arina, Frendt is transported back to The Gardens Between, now guided by Arina’s treasured diary.
- Over 40 new puzzles: Handcrafted VR-native puzzles scattered across the levels, offering tangible and immersive interactions only possible in VR. Engage in bespoke puzzles delivering unparalleled emotional depth with real-time physics. Reach out and assemble toy parts, lift a paintbrush to experience a whimsical moment, or playfully craft a friendship bracelet to become part of this intimate world.
