I'm currently knees-deep into a fundamental update for Hooked on Art, and it is taking a lot of energy, but I really needed to put out something, anything at all, for my own sanity and to eliminate any time pressures, so here's an Update with all the non-Hooked-on-Art changes that I've made so far! :)
They might not be that much compared to previous updates, but I promise that new content will come!
Changes:
- Blooming Furniture: In the Storage Room, there's something new waiting - a flower! If you interact with it, you can place it freely around the Hall to decorate.
- Blooming Hat: The free Hat of the season is the Flower Hat! Equip it onto the Ghost by heading to the Ticket Shop and interacting with the shopkeeper. :)
- General: I removed DRM Protection. By default, the Steam API has a DRM system quitting the game when false launches are detected. I've removed this for several reasons, some of which include ease of use and to prevent crashes through false-positives. So feel free to send this game to your friend!
- UI: The game can now automatically detect the input device you have last used! If you press any key or mouse button, the input device is seen as keyboard, and if you press any controller button, the input device is seen as gamepad! All primary UI gets changed - eg. the floating the A button transforms into the [E] Key!
- Boot-Up: I've added the Splash Screens for our Development Studio as well as my Publishing Initiative. :) These are the same Splash Screens that are on Hidden Arcade already!
- Code: I've optimized some performance heavy code in some scripts that were written very early on, the game should run a bit better now :)
So as I've said, I am currently working on a major Hooked on Art update, aiming to not only make it work better, but also to make it feel more like the finale to the game. I've self-imposed a deadline of March 31st for this, but I am very doubtful that I will be able to meet this.
So instead, I've been thinking of a few other things I can hit first.
As such, I have put together this patch right now, and something else that is going to release in the next few days (maybe tomorrow) is a "Blossom Update" for Spring / Summer to replace the Christmas/Winter Update, that might be coming in the next few days as well! Stay tuned c:
Happy Christmas! For this theme, I have opened up the storage room of the shop, granting access to the Christmas Tree as well as two Presents! Additionally, I've added several Fan Elements that were requested by the community! :)
