GUNFIELD
Incredibly juicy gamefeel and polished pixel art. It combines survivor elements with tight shmup gameplay, which is incredibly enticing, especially with all the permanent unlocks and upgrades. I completed countless runs and will keep coming back for more.
Operation Steel
It may looks simple but Operation Steel excels in level design and pacing, making each run a joy. Balance your skills, weapons, money and health to reach the end of a succession of handcrafted branching stages. While the main game difficulty is somewhat manageable, the Hard mode is testing me :D
Escape Space
What I hate in most shmup is the lack of meta progression. Here comes Escape Space, which adds lite RPG elements that will make you keep coming back for more, with its missions based progression. While the game is not perfect, it got me HOOKED pretty hard, and I cherished my time with it. Sequel needed.
Lilac 0
One of the crispiest pixel art shmup out there that modernises the genre with his top notch gamefeel and spiced up arcade gameplay. It's tough but also very retry friendly, with unlockable Continues and permanent stage progression. Each stage is tightly designed and will put your knowledge to the test.
