本作是角色扮演系列单机游戏《幻想三国志》的第三部，背景设定在东汉光和年间，故事发生在二代的十数年前，即黄巾之乱前后。本作剧情走向延续前作独特世界观，发展全新主角群的故事。全新的双主角路线以及3D战斗的场面。带来了新系统的创新及优化，如秘邑系统、boss放大系统、敌人后援系统、武器纸娃娃系统等为为游戏带来全新的体验。
