Major Economy Update: Double Specialization Per Region
One of the most impactful changes is the new double specialization feature for regions, revolutionizing how you manage your economy:
- Each region now supports two specializations, providing greater production diversity and more complex logistics challenges.
- Cities can now host two production facilities, doubling their output potential and offering new strategies for resource management.
- Maps have been updated to reflect these changes, and I’ve improved the UI to make it easier to manage the expanded economy system.
This update drastically enhances gameplay by giving you more control over your production chains, unlocking deeper strategic planning as you expand your rail empire.
New Locomotives & Train Management Improvements
First, let’s talk about the new locomotives:
- First-Era Steam Locomotives: The 0-4-4 T Onward and 2-6-6 T Mason are now available, adding new historical depth to your early rail networks.
- Third-Era Diesel Locomotives: Modernize your railways with the powerful F 40 PH and SD 70ACe T4.
- Locomotive parameters for the Mogul and PS 10 have been updated to improve their overall performance and efficiency.
Improved Train Management Tools
Several new features have been added to help you keep your trains running smoothly:
- A new “Lifespan is at the end” warning icon helps you keep your fleet in top shape.
- Utilization and Wait Time sorting options have been added to the Economy panel to help you locate inefficiencies quickly.
- Train Filters & Layout: Train lists in the Trains and Economy panels now have expanded filtering options, allowing for faster and more detailed management. Plus, a new Minimize/Maximize button has been added to streamline your interface.
New Tutorials & UI Enhancements
Several new tutorial sections have been added to help players navigate complex game mechanics:
- Rail Types and Color-Coding: Learn more about how rail types affect your routes and how to interpret color-coding during construction.
- Fast Rail Construction and Advanced Signal Operations: New sections provide detailed insights into optimizing your rail network.
- Waypoint Options and Route Optimizations: Improve the efficiency of your train routes with a deeper dive into waypoints and route planning.
The Signals panel UI has also been updated, and I’ve added improvements to the Construction UI for a smoother experience when planning and expanding your network.
Other Updates and Fixes
Here are some additional improvements and bug fixes across various aspects of the game:
- The lumber cargo model for all platform wagons has been updated.
- Fixed bugs related to signal tooltips, train jumping, and rail construction near junctions.
- Increased wagon limit: You can now have up to 250 wagons per train.
- Numerous UI updates to the Economy and Information panels, including fixing data presentation and improving layout clarity.
