Today's a big day for me. I've just announced the trailer and title for my new game: The Button Effect
After over a year of secretly, quietly working on this new project in Unreal Engine 5, the Steam store-page is now live for wishlisting. If you've enjoyed my previous project, Imagine Lifetimes, this one is something completely different. I've wanted to use my background in Architectural Engineering within my games for a long time now, so I've finally made the switch to 3D by picking up UE5 in the past years.
What makes this project so different?
- Genre: It's a first-person puzzler (The Witness, The Talos Principle, but on smaller scale).
- Engine: It's a 3D project made in Unreal Engine 5.
- Tone: It's based on a calmer, more gentle and optimistic perspective on life.
That doesn't mean there aren't any similarities to be found though! I'm working with voice-actors again, the musician that created the Imagine Lifetimes soundtrack is doing the music, it's going to be a shorter bite-sized experience and there's lots of hidden metaphors throughout this new game.
I know Imagine Lifetimes wasn't perfect or what some players expected from it. I like to think I've learned a lot from all of your feedback to improve my overall game design. It's been a while since you've heard from me here, but I'm hoping you'll be curious to check out my new project?
