SAVE DATA RECOVERY! SWOLLEN TO BURSTING V1.4.1.1
Read the original on Steam ↗where my revamped saving system would wipe all the user's save data from previous versions of the game. 1.4.2 was released to Steam with this issue and everyone's SWOLLEN TO BURSTING save data was wiped with no way of full recovery.
So this morning I reverted the game to the previous version, 1.4.1, with the old save system that wont wipe itself with every update. But I also wanted to do what I could to give you all your save files back.
It's a very inelegant solution, but I've made a folder of save files within the SWOLLEN TO BURSTING game folder. These are a series of save files from various milestones in the game. I have included instructions below on how to load these save files within the game.
HOW TO LOAD SAVE BACKUPS
1. From the SWOLLEN TO BURSTING page in your steam library, select: Settings > Manage > Load local files
2. The SWOLLEN TO BURSTING game folder should open. From here open the "STB SAVE BACKUPS" folder. There is a "SAVE BACKUP INSTRUCTIONS" text file within this folder with the following instructions and more info.
3. Open the folder that best describes the last part of the game you remember getting to. The folders are listed in chronological order.
4. Select all three ".rpgsave" files and copy them.
5. Back out to the main "SWOLLEN TO BURSTING UNTIL I AM DISAPPEARING ON PURPOSE" directory and open the "save" folder.
6. Paste the ".rpgsave" files to the "save" folder. If asked whether you'd like to "replace or skip files", select replace.
Done!
From here you can open the game and load the save to hopefully get roughly back to where you were.
I'd like to end this post with a sincere apology for causing this issue, and for being unable to provide a straightforward solution. In the future I plan to be much more careful with patches to the game.
