This patch includes a variety of high priority crash fixes, adjustments and improvements for XBOX Series X|S players, as well as fixes to the recently introduced Grab issues.
Earlier this week, we rolled out Patch 1.0.3 for Halloween: The Game. While this update brought a variety of fixes and improvements to the experience, it also introduced a couple frustrating problems stemming from our changes to Grabs/Struggling.
As a special thanks to our community for enduring Michael’s inhumane grip strength and some lingering performance/optimization issues, especially on XBOX Series X|S, we are granting 10,000 Perk Points to all our current Halloween: The Game players.
Grab Struggling
Our original goal with Patch 1.0.3. was to allow Civilians increased opportunities to Struggle Free from Grabs at Stalk Tier 2 and below. Unfortunately, these changes in combination with other bug fixes associated with Grabs inadvertently caused it to become exponentially more difficult for a Civilian to Struggle Free from Michael at Bloodthirst Level 3 and caused Civilian players to sometimes take fall damage after successfully Struggling Free. We understand the irritation these issues produced and apologize for allowing them to slip through alongside our last update.
Fixed an issue where Bloodthirst Level 3 would cause Grabs to be way harder to escape from than intended
Fixed an issue where Struggling free from a grab while on uneven terrain would cause the Civilian to take fall damage
Crash Fixes And Optimization
XBOX
With Patch 1.0.4, our team has made strides in improving performance and stability on XBOX Series X|S. We’ve addressed a range of memory and GPU-related crashes, and adjusted Quality/Performance settings on both Series X and S.
Adjusted settings for Performance Mode on XBOX Series X to improve performance
Introduced a new singular graphics mode for XBOX Series S
In an effort to address stability issues, we have removed the Quality/Performance toggle on Series S
This Series S profile caps framerate at 30 FPS while improving overall texture quality and enabling hair physics during gameplay
Loomis Crash
Players have consistently reported performance problems when Loomis enters the match as a reinforcement character. Ironically, we identified a significant performance hit rooted in Loomis’ hair.
Fixed an issue where Loomis spawning in would cause players to experience a performance hit or, on lower-spec platforms, crash
Various other Crash Fixes
This patch also includes fixes for a variety of crashes (such as crashing after completing a Story Mission or loading into a match) across all platforms. Crash fixes and optimization are ongoing priorities for our team and we plan to address additional issues with future updates.
