Hello Everyone!
Welcome to this week’s conductors log, where our heroes are attempting to rescue some more survivors! Before we dive into it, we’d like to take this moment to thank everyone for all the feedback we’ve received, especially regarding the rate of hunger build up. In our latest update, we’ve dropped the hunger gain rate by around 3X across all difficulties, so it should be far less intrusive now! Please let us know how you think about it!
Now, on with the story….
Conductor’s Log 14: The Rescue
We all stood and stared in abject horror as Eye’s body hit the ground, lifeless and still. We stopped dead, and properly took in the ground ahead of us, spotting the tell tale blinking red lights where the ground was littered with landmines.
We exchanged glances, and over the comms I heard Shooter’s voice, telling us all to follow them as they picked their way carefully through the minefield to the entrance, stopping only to grab the weapons off of Eye’s dead body.
Once we reached the door, we all lined up as to the plan, with a hole in our numbers where Eyes would have been. Brains was at the back, using us all as a shield, as he would be the one to hack into the pods and release the poor souls stuck inside, and if he bought it, this whole thing would be for nothing.

With a deep breath Shooter pushed the door open, and we all quickly dived inside, the relative warmth of the facility enveloping us. I heard a skittering noise, and before we could really even react, a small, spider like droid ran into the room and detonated, and all of our Exosuits, though stable, started to blare alarms and list of the injuries we’d just taken.
We limped forward, slow and careful, before we found the first of the robotic guards, which Shooter took down in a hail of gunfire. I spotted another one of the damned things coming round the corner behind us, and a couple of well placed shots from my rifle saw it drop to the floor, lifeless.
We’d moved through the facility like that, slowly clearing each room as we kept a wary eye on the timer at the top of our HUD. We’d just finished when the train’s horn sounded, warning us the time was becoming very low indeed. Brains quickly moved to the pods, checking them one by one and releasing the 5 people within.
We carefully lead them to the exit, hurriedly explaining what we knew about the situation. They all had so many questions, and I knew that the night would be spent in the living car, going through the ins and outs of whatever had caused us to end up here.
Once outside, we picked our way through the minefield, and onto the train. One of the survivors tried to give us their name, and we shook our heads, explaining that for whatever reason, we didn’t do that here. Driver headed to the cockpit, and soon enough, the trains familiar hum started, and we pulled away, leaving Eye’s body in the snow.
