Hello Everyone!
The new update for The Legend of Khiimori, The Wildlife Update, is out now for everyone, and you’ll be able to download it now!
This update introduces Fishing, the Animal Ledger and Cargo Protection items, as well as new wildlife and animal behaviour and a whole world of bug fixes and balance improvements. As always, you'll find the full breakdown of everything below. We'll also be releasing our new Roadmap this Friday, so keep an eye out for that!
The Wildlife Update
The Wildlife Update expands the world and gives players more reasons to explore. Fish for resources, use new items to protect your cargo, discover a variety of new animals, and record your wildlife encounters in the animal ledger.
Watch the Wildlife Update trailer here:
Features
Fishing – Dive into a new fishing mini-game to catch rare fish and gather valuable resources.
Animal Ledger – Keep track of the wildlife you encounter throughout your journey. Discover new species, record your sightings, and see which resources can be obtained from each animal through hunting.
New Animals - Discover a larger variety of wildlife, with Gazelle, Sheep, Donkeys, and other fauna appearing across the landscape.
Cargo Protection – Pad your saddlebag with different types of items to protect valuable cargo.
The update also brings numerous gameplay improvements and fixes. We’ll go into the full patch notes shortly, but first let’s dive a little deeper into the headline features from this update!
Fishing
When traversing the steppe, you often pass by streams, rivers and lakes, which up until now have been a place to stop and top up both your own water, and to let your horses to drink. Now, there’s another reason to seek out water - fishing!
You can find spots to fish as you move through the world, and you can catch fishes of various rarities, which you can either cook into a tasty snack to help sustain you on your travels, or sell to merchants.

Animal Ledger
As you go through the world, you see the various flora and fauna of the steppe, and now, there’s a way to record what you see and what you hunt! You’ll be able to fill out the ledger during your journeys, it’ll update as you encounter new creatures!
You’ll also find the ledger contains entries for animals which aren’t in the game yet, as we plan on adding more of them throughout Early Access! The entries will record the name of the species as well as which resources you can get from them when you hunt them, which will make it easier to craft recipes that need certain ingredients!

New Animals
Now you have a fancy ledger to fill out, it’s also time we started adding new animals to the world for you to find and/or hunt! This update brings Gazelle, Sheep and Donkeys to 13th Century Mongolia, as well as female deer (Life no longer needs to find a way!).
We’ve also improved the behaviour of animals in herds, so you should see them move as a group, rather than as a group of individuals. This is just the first batch of wildlife we’re introducing, and you’ll see more added as we move through Early Access.

Cargo Protection
One of the things we’ve seen a huge amount of feedback on, both during our pre release testing and since we’ve entered into Early Access is that you’d all like methods to protect your cargo from the elements, in order to be able to deliver your packages in better shape.
In answer to this, we’ve introduced Cargo Protection items, which are various things you can craft in order to protect your cargo from the various threats the steppe can throw at you. You can craft things to help protect from heat, cold and water, among others! We think this’ll make for a great way for you to be able to protect your items while also introducing an interesting decision with each delivery as to whether you protect your cargo or not.

And now, without further ado, here are the full Patch Notes for this update:
New Features
Fishing
New fishing minigame: settle in at a fishing spot, cast, and land your catch.
Fishing rods and baits unlock for crafting as you progress in courier ranks, and appear at traders at the same time.
Animal Ledger
A new Animal Ledger records the horses and wild animals you encounter, with artwork and details for every entry.
Entries unlock as you discover animals out in the world, with a notification whenever a new one is added.
Wildlife & Hunting
New animals roam the world: gazelles, argali sheep and wild Asiatic donkeys.
The new animals move as herds, with awareness of their surroundings and natural pathing.
New hunting rewards: fangs and pelts now drop from animals, and loot has been rebalanced across every species.
Hunting grounds for gazelle, sheep and wild Asiatic donkey are now marked on the map.
Offer Thanks: after gathering resources from a hunted animal, a short prompt lets you offer thanks with a prayer gesture for a chance at an extra resource.
Cargo Protection
New cargo protection items and recipes keep fragile freight intact on long hauls. Craft them, buy them from merchants, earn them from resource missions or find them in bandit caches. They unlock as you progress rather than being available from the start.
Under the hood
Alongside the new features and fixes, this update rebuilds two of the game's core systems: the inventory and missions. A large share of the bugs you've reported over the past months traced back to these two, so rather than keep patching around them, we rebuilt them properly. You won't see these changes directly, but you should feel them: a more stable game today, and a stronger foundation we can build on with every update from here.
Save games from older versions may behave unexpectedly after the system rebuild – please report anything odd via the in-game bug reporter.
