Different ammunition types offer different balances of penetration and cavity size, allowing you to adapt to the animal, the situation, and the shot you need to make. Whether you want to cover a wider range of species or fine-tune your setup for more precise shot placement, choosing the right ammo can make all the difference.
The Ammo change system has been tested and refined on the Experimental Branch first, based on your feedback - thanks to everyone who helped shape it along the way!
HOW TO USE AMMO CHANGE IN THE GAME:
Access the Shop from the laptop in your lodge or from the vicinity menu. Buy the ammo you want to bring with you. Note that:
You can carry 2 sets of ammo if you have no backpack, 4 with the default backpack, and 6 with the big backpack.
Each weapon has one ammo type that is default and free. Alternate ammo types are paid.
Double-check that you are bringing ammo compatible with the weapons you want to bring!
Access the storage and select the rifles/shotguns you want to bring with you. (Bows and arrows do not yet have alternate ammo - these will be added after full release).
Add your ammo to your ammo slots. You can fill multiple slots with the same ammo type.
Equip the ammo to your rifles.

Due to the upcoming Way of the Hunter 2 release, we won't need the Experimental Branch for a while, so we might be closing it for now. Thank you to everyone who jumped in to playtest new features and share feedback there, it's made a real difference. We'll give you at least 24h notice before we do, so you'll have time to wrap up, archive saves, or do anything else you need there first.
