Today, we have a new update for our Grand Voyage

Hello everyone, I’m Ryagi, Community Manager at Tinto. Today we’re going to give you an update on our Grand Voyage Roadmap. In case you’re out of the loop, we first revealed this voyage back in May this year (2026), and we gave you a smaller update on it recently in July to let you know Ambitions are coming at a later date than initially planned. We’ve previously given you some hints about 1.5, and now you have more details on the soon-to-be-released 1.4… but what’s beyond that? Today we’re going to be answering that very question!

As you can see, the Discovery Update is a cornerstone of our ambitions; as such, it’s going to be titled 2.0. But before we talk about 2.0, let’s talk about the journey there.

Update 1.4 - Rio Salado

If you’ve been keeping up with our Tinto Talks, you’re already quite familiar with 1.4 - Rio Salado. Update 1.4 is a significant stepping stone and sets in place the first iterations of some major systems that we’d like to expand upon as we get deeper into “The Grand Voyage”. Systems like Expeditions, Decisions, and Religious Orders. 1.4 also has a focus on improving player Agency and Quality of Life. We’ve given Trade a facelift that allows you to turn the dial depending on how much complexity fits your playstyle. The inclusion of Betrothals and Inheritance contracts also improves dynastic gameplay overall. 1.4 is also the starting point of our plan to revitalize Christianity in EU5. 1.4 focuses specifically on Catholicism. You’ll find Cardinals are now characters, and both Crusades and Jihads have gotten a rework. Last but not least, 1.4 has changed game pacing and smoothness significantly with the switch to a daily tick system, Political Influence, significant performance improvements, and a number of bugfixes and various quality of life additions.

You can find all these topics and more in detail below:

Tinto Talks 118 - Introducing 1.4 + Miscellaneous Changes

Tinto Talks 119 - Politics & Diplomacy \[Update 1.4 Preview]

Tinto Talks 120 - Decisions & Content Tab

Tinto Talks 121 - Expeditions

Tinto Talks 122 - UI & QOL Changes

Tinto Talks 123 - Performance & Campaign Timeline

Tinto Talks 124 - Economy, Trade & Tariffs

Perhaps the best thing about 1.4, however, is that it’s coming very soon! We plan to open the doors to 1.4 when the open beta launches on October 1st, and beta feedback will be a crucial step in tuning what the final version of 1.4 will look like.

Update 1.5 - Fealty

Update 1.5 is known as the Fealty update.

Here’s a short snapshot to give you an idea of what Fealty brings:

1.5 will also come with some smaller improvements to Banking Countries, Integration/Coring, and Food Harvests. We’ll share more details on everything here as they become more concrete.

Update 2.0 - Discovery

When the Discovery Update comes out, it will be the biggest update in EU5's history. And while we’re not ready to share in-depth details on it quite yet, we do want to give you an idea of what we have in mind for it. As we mentioned previously, “Ambitions” were shifted into this update, and they’ll be coming alongside a revitalized Content Delivery System (CDS). Alongside these new systems, we’ll also be taking the opportunity to flesh out some of the systems we paved the way with in 1.4 and 1.5; Expeditions, Decisions, and Incidents will be expanded on or added to in 2.0.

In 2.0, we’ll also be revitalizing how Exploration and Colonization work. We intend for 2.0 to deliver on a lot, and that doesn’t come without a cost. In order to give this update the love and attention it deserves, we’re pouring more than a normal amount of dedicated time into it. So let’s talk a little bit about the period leading up to 2.0

Pre-Discovery Maintenance Period

While most members of our team will be focused on 2.0, some will still be able to drop smaller maintenance patches throughout this “before period”. Our overall focus will be taking a breath to stop adding new things and fix what’s already there. Some of those fixes are substantial enough to find their way into 2.0, while others will come out throughout this period. We want to be transparent with you, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking during this maintenance phase. You’ll see bug fixes, Quality of Life, and maybe the odd improvement here and there.

_____________________________________

That concludes this update for Grand Voyage. Now that we’ve given you a look behind the curtain, you probably have a lot of questions. Fear not! There are many ways to make sure we see them. If you’re reading this at time of publishing, we’re hosting a live text Q&A over on Discord today at 15:00 CEST/9AM EST. Here we’ll be answering questions you have live, so take a moment to think about them, and hit us with your hardest ones.

And if you’re one of the many who are reading this after that Q&A, you can still access all the answers directly on the Discord. And of course, as usual, you are always welcome to give us your thoughts and feedback in this post. We’ll be sharing more details on the specifics throughout the journey. Stay with us on this voyage, and remember: Be Ambitious!
