WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027 is finally out. And I think, after the first few days, we can pause for a moment and say: Wow. Thank you!
We’re developing a very special game here. A game that’s actually far too big for the average of 3.1 people who’ve been working on it over the past year. And that’s not just in terms of the actual development, but also all the other tasks such as IT, localisation, customer service and a little bit of PR.
We know that, given our technical foundation, we’ve hardly a chance of achieving top marks. Our engine was originally developed by just two people. Today, the remaining programmers first have to familiarise themselves with many aspects and improvise in some areas. However, we’ve made improvements to almost every menu and in-game screen – even if, of course, these improvements aren’t immediately obvious to everyone.
And yet, together with an incredible beta testing group, we’ve created a game that’s good for a huge number of hours of play. A game with a loyal community that’s still extremely active around its predecessor, even after two and a half years – at a time when many a highly acclaimed title has long since faded into obscurity.
What particularly impressed us in the first few days, however, was the incredible support from all sorts of quarters. We really hadn’t expected so many helping hands. Many have made our mission their own and have been right there with us, sharing in the excitement. That was – and still is – brilliant, and it means a great deal to us.
At times, more than 5,000 viewers were watching WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027 simultaneously on Twitch. Unbelievable!
So if you’re currently thinking about whether to give WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027 a go, now might be a good time. Because WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027 is a football management game for everyone who doesn’t just want to field a team, but wants to build their own football club and shape their very own football world.
With the new Creative Mode, this year we’re giving you a powerful tool to truly make the game your own.
We’ve got some exciting weeks ahead of us. This period will show whether we can achieve the sales figures necessary for the series’ further development.
We’re particularly delighted that so many of you have taken the time to write detailed reviews on Steam. You’ve shared what you like, what might not be quite right yet, and what you’d like to see in the future. Thank you very much for that!
At the moment, we’re working flat out on the first update for the game. As well as fixing the most important issues reported so far, we’ve also already incorporated a number of minor improvements. As soon as the release date is confirmed, we’ll provide you with full details. We’re talking days here, not weeks. From Monday, there’ll also be a constantly updated changelog available on Steady.
In addition, the Steam Workshop will enter the testing phase on Monday.
At the same time, we’re now working on the Spanish and Italian versions. This is a major challenge, but an important step for the future of the series in the long term. It will certainly take some time to complete, but a mixed version (partly in English) will be available shortly.
In general, we’d like to make it much easier to translate the game into additional languages in future. After all, only through international success can we secure the long-term future of the series and continue to develop WE ARE FOOTBALL. We already have plenty of helping hands here too, and I’m very excited to see which additional languages will emerge through fan projects before the end of the year.
