Hello Everyone!

Welcome to this week's conductors log, our 13th, which as you may know, is unlucky for some...

Conductor's Log 13: Unlucky For Some

I looked over the stores and decided it was time. We’d gathered enough rations that food, for the time being at least, wasn’t going to be a problem. I told Driver to set the train to a safe speed, and gathered everyone in the Expedition Wagon.

I told them that by now, it was fairly obvious that, for the time being at least, we were on our own, and that the 5 of us, though clearly a scrappy bunch, weren’t going to be able to survive indefinitely, that running the train, which was essentially our world at this point, was going to take more than we’ve got to give.

The time had come to add to our numbers. As we’d crossed the small bit of the moon we’d covered so far, we’ve seen the cryopods we all arrived in scattered throughout certain facilities, just waiting to be opened to release the poor souls held within.

This was when the argument started. Eyes was incensed, asking how we could justify bringing more people onto the train, into the hell we were being subjected to. Driver was much more pragmatic, agreeing with me that we needed more hands. It was Brains that ended the debate when he pointed out that if we didn’t free them, they might lay there forever, frozen in the twilight of cryosleep, not really alive or dead.

We all agreed we’d rather our fate than that.

We drew up a plan, again it would be all five of us hitting the next target, a large facility which scans indicated had people we could save within. We were going to breach the main door, fan out through the facility and clear it, and then brains would get to work, hacking the pods and releasing the people within so we could bring them aboard.

We spent the rest of the day building new bunks for the people we hoped to save, and then we went to the expedition wagon, changing into our exosuits as we pulled up at the facility. The door opened, and one by one we jumped out, the snow crunching under our boots as we hit the floor.

Eyes stepped forward first, heading to the entry to the facility, which outside at least, was unguarded.

Then they exploded in front of us, their body cartwheeling through the air as the landmine ripped them apart….
