Bandit Simulator TD is officially set to launch on Steam on October 12, 2026!
Compared to the demo version, we've made massive changes and will be adding plenty of new content and gameplay features!
In this edition, we're covering a major rework: How You Recruit Characters.
Character Recruitment Rebuilt from the Ground Up
Previously, all Legendary (unique) characters were unlocked linearly through a tavern that opened up as you cleared stages. That progression felt too linear — it lacked randomness, surprise, and player freedom.
Now, we've diversified the ways to obtain Legendary characters. Currently there are three methods:
Tavern – Still recruits Legendary special characters, but only those of lower rarity.
City Conquest – After capturing a city, you can take its original governor captive. If you meet the requirements (stronghold level), you can recruit them to your side.
Recruitment Building – Once your stronghold's recruitment building reaches a certain level, there's a chance for Legendary characters to appear directly. This greatly boosts the surprise and randomness factor.
Of course, as with all Xiao Mang games, some ultimate characters will be obtainable later through dungeon exchanges or unlocks.
(Whether we can get this done by October 12 remains to be seen!)
Introducing the Legendary Roster – Collect Them All!
We've added a Legendary Roster (essentially a compendium/collection book). Collect all the Legendary characters through various channels!
A little secret: the number of Legendary characters has already reached 205 designs.

- Every character acts as a fixed tower. They don't move on their own. Whether it's combat, gathering, or crafting, everything is carried out through Tower Defense mechanics.

[] The game simulates the development of an ancient bandit stronghold. Combat is based on Tower Defense mechanics, paying homage to (and blending with) several classic genre masterpieces (like the Warcraft RPGs Bandit TD, Element TD, Immortal Simulator, etc.). We've refined and simplified these concepts, combining them with idle/clicker gameplay to deliver an experience that is both "satisfyingly addictive" and "simple and relaxing."
