UNTAMED KINGDOM | WATER, HUNTING & WORLD UPDATE
We've pushed a major gameplay update focused on water survival, hunting opportunities, the Scent System, world density, and animal balance.
WATER SYSTEM UPDATE
Currents now affect animals in the water and can sweep them downstream.
Babies are at the greatest risk when caught in strong currents and have a significantly lower survival rate when attempting to swim through them.
Players are encouraged to look for safer routes and alternative crossings instead of attempting to cross dangerous rivers.
Swimming against the current now drains stamina significantly faster for all animals.
When an animal completely runs out of stamina while swimming, it will now begin losing health.
Animals that are naturally strong swimmers will have slightly more lenience when their stamina reaches zero.
Animals that are not naturally strong swimmers will lose stamina faster while swimming.
SCENT SYSTEM UPDATE
We've made significant changes to the Scent System after determining that portions of the previous system were not reliable enough for players trying to locate food and water.
The previous food and water highlighting system has been removed.
The compass will now display directional icons while using Scent, allowing players to determine which direction food or water can be found.
Nearby NPCs will still be highlighted when detected through Scent.
The goal of this change is to make Scent useful for tracking the general direction of resources without making finding food and water too easy.
NEW QUEST INCOMING: SURVIVE THE HUNT
A new server event called "Survive the Hunt" is coming.
The server will randomly select a player to become the hunted player.
The selected player will have 10 seconds to accept the challenge.
If accepted, a sound will play to notify everyone in the server.
Players will be able to check their maps to see the last known location of the hunted player.
The hunted player must survive for 4 minutes to complete the challenge.
REWARDS
Survive for 4 minutes: 10,000 XP
Die during the hunt: 5,000 XP
Kill the hunted player: 10,000 XP
Only 4 players can be selected per server session.
If the hunted player leaves the server or crashes, an error notification sound will play to notify the remaining players.
NEW QUEST INCOMING: HUNT THE ALPHA
"Hunt the Alpha" is a new NPC based hunting challenge.
An Alpha NPC will spawn and roam within a designated area.
The Alpha's general hunting area will be displayed on the map.
Players must track down and kill the Alpha.
The first player to kill the Alpha receives 4,500 XP.
Players who die to the Alpha receive 100 XP for attempting the challenge.
Only 2 Alpha events will spawn per server session.
MAP UPDATES
The playable area has been reduced by approximately half due to the current player population.
Wildlife density has been increased to compensate for the smaller playable area and create more frequent hunting opportunities.
A new open area featuring rolling hills has been added.
Additional environmental adjustments have been made to improve the overall flow of the hunting experience.
BALANCE CHANGES
Rattlesnake venom potency has been decreased.

The new water mechanics and upcoming hunting events are designed to create more unpredictable encounters while giving players more reasons to explore and interact with the world.
