Norland News Roundup
Patches 54-56 were all released simultaneously, bringing the previous two beta patches and the new Patch 56 to the main branch. Let's break down what each patch brought to Norland.
Patch #54 focused on reworking guests, improving politics, and adding new character traits. Guests will now arrive with 2 to 3 bodyguards, and the sociable role and schemer role have been adjusted, while the gambler and parent remain unchanged. This patch also brought a map generation settings menu at the hall placement stage when creating a new game. A host of new character traits such as berserk, gourmet, and inspirer, and new political interactions like a usurpation mechanic were also added as part of this patch.
Patch #55 introduced the event director, which controls and regulates the flow of random events. Attacks on your city by the Faceless, prophecies, arrival of unique guests, and conspiracies are some of, but not all of, the events now controlled by the event director. This patch also focuses on a wealth of balance changes for the character and economy systems and brings tutorial and interface improvements.

Patch #56 is the newest patch and brings gameplay, graphical, balance, and interface improvements. Some of the standout gameplay improvements in this patch are more interactions on the global map, younger lords sent to the Church can now return as a Bishop or Matricarch, and adjustments to special resource management. This patch also adds a new Mill building asset, improved interface features like a new notification when politicians or guests perform an intrigue action, and balance changes like vassal uprisings being governed by the event manager. Make sure to check out the full notes here to get the full story on any of these patches. We can't fit all the great changes and additions here.
Thanks for reading and happy governing!
