Tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Lou, I'm an artist and cosplayer. I've been a fan of DEATH STRANDING since the teaser trailer for the first game dropped, I was instantly hooked by the visuals and mood. Outside of cosplay I love to paint (mostly oil/watercolour paintings) and sometimes dabble in photography. Oh and I also love to play video games of course!
Tell us about your cosplay. Who are you cosplaying as, and why?
I'm cosplaying Higgs from DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH. Higgs is one of my favourite characters and I really love his character design in both games. His DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH design seemed like a fun challenge to recreate, so I wanted to bring it to life as best I could.
What game advice would you give to DEATH STRANDING newcomers?
Take your time with it! Enjoy the journey and let the story unfold. Also, in the first game ranked orders give you lots of materials as a reward (which is very handy when you're building roads).
What does the DEATH STRANDING community mean to you?
Everything! It's such a welcoming and supportive community that's full of love for the games. I've met so many amazing people through the DEATH STRANDING community from all over the world. The community really does reflect the message in the games of the importance of connection.
How did you first get into cosplay?
I only started crafting props as a hobby in 2019 just before the release of DEATH STRANDING. I wanted to see if I could make Higgs' gold mask from the game, and it snowballed from there. I went to my first con in 2022 cosplaying a character from another game, saw a Sam Bridges cosplayer and thought "wait. I could do that" so I did! I finished my first Higgs cosplay and I've been in love with cosplay ever since.
Looking back I'm surprised it took me so long to get into cosplay as a hobby. When I was about four years old I got a Batman costume for Christmas and refused to take it off, so the writing was on the wall I think.
