Main Update Now Available!

After weeks of beta testing and receiving feedback and bug reports from players, we're excited to bring this update to the Main Branch!

With the update now moving to the Main Branch, we can continue forward with the next parts of Out of Ore's development. This does not mean that the changes and systems introduced with this update are in their final state. As development continues, we will keep collecting player feedback, making adjustments, and finding the right balance for how different parts of the game work together.

A big thank you to everyone who joined the beta, tested the new content, sent in bug reports, and shared feedback with us.

During the beta period, we continued fixing reported issues, making balancing changes, and improving different areas of the game based on what we have seen and heard from players.

This update brings a wide range of additions, changes, improvements, and fixes across the game, from the brand new Moivaara map, Land Purchase and dynamic ore pricing to progression changes, vehicle improvements, visual upgrades, quality of life features, and much more.

There is a lot that has been added and changed, so below we have highlighted some of the bigger additions and explained how some of the new systems are intended to work.

While moving the update to the Main Branch is a major milestone, there is still plenty more to come. We will continue improving what is already in the game while moving forward with new content, features, and other areas of development.

Moivaara Map

One of the biggest additions included in this update is the brand new Moivaara map, offering a different way to build and grow your mining company.

Moivaara features industrial areas for ore deliveries, multiple shops where you can purchase vehicles, parts, materials, equipment and more, as well as residential areas, a gas station, and an extensive road network connecting the different areas of the map.

Players begin with two owned land sectors on the northern side of the map, giving you an area to establish your first operation. On the western side of the town you will also find a large open pit, which provides another location to expand into later as your company grows.

Moivaara features multiple physical shops and industrial areas throughout the town.

Different shops allow you to purchase vehicles, parts, materials, equipment, and other items directly in the world. There is also a benefit to making the trip to the store, as items purchased from physical shops are 30% cheaper compared to purchasing the same items directly through your inventory.

Industrial areas also provide physical locations where ore can be delivered and sold, giving transportation and logistics a bigger role in your mining operation.

Land Purchase

Alongside Moivaara comes the new Land Purchase system.

On maps using the Land Purchase system, rather than having access to the entire map from the beginning, players can gradually expand their operation by purchasing additional land. This adds another part to company progression, where growing your operation is not only about mining and selling ore, but also deciding where you want to expand and what areas are worth investing in.

Choose your purchases carefully, as purchased land cannot be refunded or sold back.

The Land Purchase system is currently exclusive to the Moivaara map and V2 maps.

Dynamic Ore Pricing

With this update we are also introducing the new Dynamic Pricing system.

Ore prices are no longer always fixed. As larger amounts of ore are sold, the current market price for that ore will gradually decrease. Reduced prices recover over time, with price recovery applied every in-game hour.

This means it can be worth keeping an eye on the market instead of always selling everything immediately. Current ore prices can be followed through the Mining OS or at the Mine Office on Moivaara and V2 maps.

Where you sell also matters. Selling ore at physical vendor sell points and shops is more profitable than selling it directly through your inventory.

New V2 Maps

We are also introducing updated V2 versions of several existing maps.

The new V2 maps are:

These versions bring some of the newer systems and improvements introduced with Moivaara to existing maps. This includes the New Foliage, Land Purchase System, and Prebuilt store locations at the starting location.

The V2 versions now replace the previous versions in the Create New Game menu only.

This means the change only applies when you create a new game.

If you already have a savegame on an older version of one of these maps, you can continue loading and playing it as normal.

Existing savegames are not converted or changed by the new V2 versions.

This allows us to bring newer features to existing maps without converting existing savegames to the V2 versions or replacing the worlds players have already built.

Economy and Progression

Another major focus of this update has been improving the economy and progression throughout Out of Ore.

Prices, unlock levels, production costs, and building costs have been adjusted to create a smoother progression from starting with a smaller operation to eventually running a much larger mining and production company.

Alongside these changes, we have made several improvements to the systems used for managing your company.

Highlights:

World and Visual Improvements

Another major area of focus has been improving the overall look and atmosphere of the game world.

Across all maps, numerous adjustments have been made to lighting, post processing, colors, materials, weather, and environmental details. Daytime visuals have received updated color grading and saturation, while further improvements have been made to how different times of day look and feel.

Work lights, vehicle lights, street lights, and other light sources have also received attention to improve both visibility and atmosphere during nighttime operations.

Various materials, textures, vehicle appearances, terrain, foliage, and environmental assets have also been updated throughout the game.

Highlights:

Nighttime Lighting & Brightness

Nights have been adjusted to be darker again, while vehicle lights, work lights, and other light sources have been improved to provide better visibility and reach.

Since preferred nighttime brightness can vary from player to player, we have also added a Night Brightness setting under Settings → Graphics, allowing you to brighten nights if needed.

Placeable Grass and Foliage Update

You can now place grass directly from your inventory. Simply purchase grass from the store, equip it in your hotbar, and place it on the ground.

We have also made placing material by hand easier. Instead of clicking one by one, you can now hold down the mouse button to continuously place it.

On Moivaara and V2 maps, the new foliage will also grow on grass placed by the player, helping your newly grassed areas blend better with the surrounding environment.

Cinematic Drone

A new addition to the game is the Cinematic Drone, which you can find in the Mining OS menu.

The Cinematic Drone gives you more freedom to explore the world and capture your mining operation from different perspectives. With a variety of camera settings, you can adjust movement speed, lens, focus, aperture, ISO, altitude and more to set up the view you want. Note: The screenshots shown in this update and the new intro were captured using the new Cinematic Drone!

Ore Visuals

Ore visuals have been updated across the game, with adjusted textures and new materials for all ore types. These changes give different ores and materials a more detailed and natural appearance while making them easier to visually distinguish.

Vehicles and Machinery

Vehicles and machinery have received a large number of changes throughout this update and during the beta testing period.

Excavators, loaders, trucks, pavers, compactors, and other equipment have received adjustments to digging, terrain interaction, material handling, controls, gearboxes, traction, balance, and general behavior.

Our goal with these changes is to make machinery smoother and more predictable to operate while continuing to improve how different types of equipment behave and interact with the terrain.

The visual side of the vehicle fleet has also received further attention, including vehicle colors, paint finishes, lighting, visibility, and other smaller details.

Vehicle General Changes

Vehicle Visuals

Vehicles have also received various visual improvements across the fleet, including improved tire textures, color tweaks, paint adjustments, lighting improvements, and other smaller visual fixes to improve their overall appearance.

Excavators:

Excavators now have mounding and material spillage when digging and handling material, giving material more natural behavior while working with the terrain. Based on feedback we received during the Beta, we have also reduced the amount of spillage to find a better balance.

Loaders:

The goal with Loaders has been to improve their speed and how they handle material and interact with the terrain. Previously, there was very little resistance when digging into and collecting material.

Loaders now change their speed when collecting material with the bucket down, giving more resistance when digging into the terrain. We have also adjusted how they push and move material with their buckets to give Loaders a better overall feel when working with material.

Dozers

Dozers have received only minor adjustments in this update, while the main vehicle work has focused on other types of machinery.

Baggers

Baggers have received adjustments to their weight and traction, alongside several fixes to their fill meters and visual appearance.

Trucks, Rock Trucks & Pickups:

Trucks, Rock Trucks and Pickups have received several adjustments to their gearbox behavior, driving, and material dumping. Reverse gears have received additional attention to make them behave better, while dumping has been adjusted to make unloading material more reliable.

Pavers & Rollers

Pavers and Rollers have received improvements to how they place and interact with material. Previously, material placed by the Paver could have very little height, so this has been adjusted to give paved areas more proper material height and shape. Rollers have also been adjusted to work better with newly paved areas and prevent the ground from being compacted too much.

Fixes and Improvements

A large number of community-reported issues have been addressed throughout the development and beta testing of this update, alongside issues discovered during our own testing.

These range from long-standing vehicle and multiplayer issues to UI, saving, visual, gameplay, and quality of life fixes.

Some of the fixes included in this update:

Bug Reports, Feedback & Suggestions

As always, we appreciate everyone taking the time to report issues they come across while playing. Well-detailed bug reports make it much easier for us to understand what is happening, reproduce the problem, and work towards a fix. It is also the most direct way to get an issue into our internal development tracking system.

When reporting an issue, please include:

Game Version

The version number can be found in the bottom-right corner of the game menu. For example: v0.35.5536.

What happened? Give us as many useful details as possible about the problem and what you were doing when it happened.

What did you expect to happen?

This is very important! Let us know what you expected to happen instead. This helps us better understand the issue and the behavior you expected. Feedback is considered alongside the broader balance and direction of the game.

How to reproduce it If possible, explain what we need to do to make the issue happen again.

Screenshots or videos are always helpful when they can show the problem clearly.

You can report issues directly through the Bug Report option in the game menu or through our Bug Report page.

What's Next

With the current Beta now moving to the Main Branch, it allows us to move forward with new additions while continuing to improve and adjust what is already in the game.

For the next Beta, we are currently planning to introduce Autolevel, Flexible Conveyors, and the new Manlift. Alongside these additions, development and changes will continue across other areas of the game, based on player feedback.

Auto level

Autolevel is something we have seen requested by players for quite some time, and we are now working on bringing the first version into the game.

We are planning to have the first version available in the next Beta. The goal is to make it easier to create precise and level areas, especially since we know keeping a good level manually isn't always easy. As we move forward, we plan to keep improving the system and bring it to more vehicles along the way.

Flexible Conveyors

Flexible Conveyors will give players more freedom when building and connecting production setups and conveyor lines. Rather than relying only on fixed conveyor sections, the new system is intended to make it easier to connect equipment and create layouts that better fit your operation.

Manlift

The Manlift is also planned to be included in the next Beta. It will help players reach areas that are difficult to access from the ground, whether you're working around production equipment, buildings, or other structures.

It's a simple but useful addition that should make reaching those harder to access areas much easier.

These are some of the additions we are currently targeting for the next Beta, but they are not everything being worked on. As development and testing continue, the exact content of the Beta may change. There is more in development that we look forward to sharing as it gets closer to being ready.

Best Regards,

Christian & The Team
