We are thrilled to announce the release of 0.4.0: The World Has Evolved. This update rebuilds the world from the ground up with new vegetation, textures, terrain, lighting, and environmental detail. The update also includes several new features such as The Warden, driving improvements, modern upscaling support, new customization, and more.
WORLD OVERHAUL
Nearly every part of OUTBRK’s 625 km² world has been revisited. Forests, ground textures, terrain, lighting, and environmental composition have all been rebuilt to create a richer and more natural storm-chasing environment.
Vegetation & Terrain
Replaced all legacy vegetation with new higher-quality, biome-specific trees and ground foliage
Replaced ground textures throughout the world with new higher-quality materials
Reworked forest, farm, and vegetation placement to create more natural environments and transitions between biomes
Improved environmental composition across the world
Optimized vegetation and rendering performance in fields and farm areas
Tree Destruction Rework
Replaced every legacy tree model with new fully destructible models, which includes branches.
Reworked tree-destruction behavior to reflect exact tornado strength
Improved collision around broken trunks and fallen tree pieces, making them easier to navigate
Removed collision from small branches on standing trees to improve off-road travel
Lighting & Shadows
Improved environmental lighting throughout the OUTBRK world
Improved Ambient Occlusion across the OUTBRK world
Significantly Improved up-close and distant shadow fidelity
Increased max shadow rendering distance from 80 to 800 meters
Map Updates
Added a new lake and surrounding forest area POI
Added new roads and interstate ramps
Added additional farm areas throughout the world
Added six new billboards to the map
Repositioned forests and vegetation across the map
Updated the world map and minimap to reflect the rebuilt environment
DRIVING REWORK
Vehicle handling has been overhauled across all OUTBRK vehicles. The new driving model is designed to feel more responsive, predictable, and controllable during both routine travel and quick maneuvers on tilt prone vehicles like the Hammerhead.

THE WARDEN
Meet The Warden, a new fully customizable pickup truck built for chasers who want capability, space, and a commanding view of the storm.

CUSTOMIZATION
The decal system has been rebuilt to support decals that can cover the entire body of a vehicle. Brand new car cosmetics were also integrated, opening the door to more detailed and expressive customization.

UPSCALING
The Upscaling system has received an overhaul that now supports next generation upscaling capabilities to increase visual fidelity & performance.
Updated the upscaling integration with support for DLSS 4, FSR 3, FSR 4, and XeSS 3
Only upscaling methods supported by the player’s GPU are shown in the settings menu
Added automatic GPU-Vendor detection to select best upscaler by default
Added automatic upscaling mode selection based on users quality preset

LOADING SCREENS
