Hi everyone. We pushed an update tonight. Here's what's in it:
New
Endless Mode now has a proper ending flow: clearing Wave 17 gives you an explicit confirmation that the main run is complete and your unlocks have been recorded, and only then does the Endless post-wave screen open.
Added an "Abandon Run" option to the pause menu (with a confirmation prompt). Abandoning a run is now written into your run report and Chronicle in full.
Changes
Smoother performance in late waves and long Endless runs: lighter spawns for basic enemies, coin drops merged, non-critical visual updates staggered, the first-cast hitch on the Shaolin fireball eliminated, and redundant collision checks skipped.
Smoother tutorial dialogue: when the same character speaks several lines in a row, the box no longer closes and reopens for each one — it now continues in place.
Windowed mode sizing fixed: window options are now filtered against your actual usable screen area, so they no longer overflow the display; multi-monitor setups center safely; and if an old save had its window size stepped down, you'll get a one-time prompt to restore it. (This also resolves the windowed mode "not working" issue.)
Fixes
The chest flame on the Legendary inner art "Yunhui" being completely covered by outer art animations
Duplicate stacking of the persistent-field effect on Taiji Fist Lv.10
Truncated rich-text descriptions on item cards
Five-digit coin totals being clipped on the post-wave screen
Career stats double-counting when resuming an Endless run
Tutorial banners being hidden behind buff icons
Tutorial prompts consuming the same-wave battle notification budget
Missing card text on Red Lotus Manual, Dragon Vein Treasure Map, and others
The performance work above should ease the stuttering and frame drops many of you have been hitting in the late stages of Endless Mode (around wave 30 and beyond).
And now I owe you all a sincere apology. Endless Mode was never part of the planned launch content. But yesterday so many of you told me there was nowhere to actually use the high-tier martial arts and items you'd earned by the end of a run, so I decided to add it to the day-one update on short notice. I ran a rough 40-wave stress test on my own machine, it felt playable, so I shipped it — with the plan to keep testing and tuning over the following days. What I genuinely didn't anticipate was how fast you'd all reach the designed cap of 60 waves. The endgame stat accumulation produces massive skill effects and "clear the screen in one hit" moments, and that puts enormous pressure on enemy spawning and damage resolution — far beyond what my optimization work, done for a 17-wave game, was built to handle. So there's a good chance you'll run into the stuttering, frame drops, or even crashes described above in the current Endless Mode. This has nothing to do with your hardware. It's on my code. This update fixes some of it. But optimization is probably going to be a long road, and measuring whether it actually worked depends on a lot of testing. Seeing how invested you all are is something I'm both genuinely happy about and honestly a little daunted by. When I first released this, it was meant to be a small game — part personal project, part homework. It has a complete gameplay loop, but overall it's still half-finished; even the tutorial was thrown together yesterday. I figured that if it held your attention for twenty minutes, that would already be a win. It never occurred to me that anyone would actually finish it. To be completely honest: at my current skill level as a game developer, I probably can't deliver a flawless experience any time soon. But I will keep patching and polishing it over the coming period, and adding the content I've already planned — it's just going to take a while. A month? Two? So if you're running into real problems, please do go play something more polished and stable in the meantime. When this game has richer content and more mature optimization, I'm confident it'll give you a lot more to enjoy. Thank you sincerely for your support and your patience. I'm bowing to all of you.
