Greetings Universe Architects,

It’s been a while since our last dev diary from 2025, in which we talked about Reality Reboot and its effect on the simulation.

In 2026, we’ve released content almost every three weeks, with new chapters of Life expanding into Mollusks and Crustaceans. Civilization continues its stride toward progress with Scientific Revolution II and Industrial Revolution II. The Beyond drew to a close with Beyond E30: Cosmic Horizons. Meanwhile the game continues to improve through Quality of Life updates, with Time Chambers and the expanded Nanobots.

Now it’s time to talk about the next major Cell to Singularity expansion: The Future. Spoilers ahead.

A New Expansion: The Future

There is an unexplained new node in the game. Semblance has become intrigued with the possibilities of predicting the future, and now she must go further than ever before into unknown territory.

What is The Future?

Veteran players may remember the speculative future content that was in the Primary Simulation for many years. We removed this content during Reality Reboot with the intention to bring it back bigger and better.

That content will now return in an enhanced form with The Future expansion:

The Future will mark the next grand stage in Semblance’s journey, giving players a front row seat of the potential paths ahead for humanity. The first available vision to players will be the Future of Space. Join Semblance in navigating through the evolution of space exploration as it becomes a mainstream part of civilization.

The Journey to Singularity

We want achieving Singularity to feel like an epic culmination of your progress through the Primary Simulation. After Reality Reboot’s release, Singularity lost its impact and meaning in the story. With The Future expansion, we have the opportunity to redefine Semblance’s role and her fate.

In the new expansion, players will now advance through the five visions of The Future in order to unlock Singularity. This moves Singularity further into the simulation as a late-game goal.

We are also revisiting the story of Mars. In the new Future expansion, the current Mars tree will be temporarily removed as we develop the journey of space exploration from the moon to Mars. Players who have already progressed through the current Mars tree will have their progress converted into the new Future content. More details will be shared as we get closer to release.

The Future is Calling

The Future is still early in development, and we're looking for a limited number of players to join the Closed Alpha Playtest. Initial testing will be limited to Steam only. Since this Alpha is confidential, we ask players to not share any information, screenshots, or details of The Future outside of the private Discord channel.

We wanted to share another exciting update you may have noticed.

Explore Events Are Back

We premiered our first Explore Event of 2026 with Explore: Atmosphere – Upper Bounds, which came out at the beginning of July. We hope players have enjoyed learning about the skies above us. Thank you again to the community for over 400 amazing submissions to The Cloud Photography Contest. Check out the winners on Reddit.

Players can also look forward to Explore: Pregnancy coming soon, in which a developmental journey unfolds and each stage brings new milestones.

While these updates are still a work in progress, the road ahead is paved with content releases like Spooky Summer! Explore: Cryptids – Face Your Fears makes its chilling return from August 3, 11 AM EDT to August 6, 4:50 PM EDT. Also check out the beta to help test what’s next.

Exciting things lie ahead, Universe Architects.
