Introduction

Changes

• The player’s Health and Energy bars in the combat interface now update smoothly and use improved display logic. Poison, remaining healing charges, and critical hits against the player and officers are now displayed in the same way as they are for enemies.
  
• Added tooltips for input modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, and RMB).
  
• The new input modifiers now work on the contraband and colony capture screens, when searching barrels at sea, and when discarding items from the inventory.
  
• The text-based maneuverability rating was poorly received, so we replaced it with a clearer version. We also added more tiers and specified the range for each one.
  
• Ship stat bars are now larger and easier to read.
  
• Items with no stats no longer display an empty tooltip panel.
  
• The spare cannon information now clearly states that only the main caliber is counted.
  
• Added a notification for unpaid crew wages. The tavern line “They say you’re a miser” should no longer come as a surprise.
  
• The flagship’s name is now shown in the ship list outside combat.
  
• The Holy Mercy no longer damages relations with Spain if it is attacked by someone other than the player in the local waters.
  
• If the player leaves without searching the Holy Mercy’s cabin, Almeida’s journal and the crumpled note will still be added to the Documents section.
  
• The main menu and pause menu now display a notification when mods are enabled. If you return after a long break and have forgotten about your Steam Workshop subscriptions, the game will remind you.
  
• Early-game jungle bandits no longer travel in groups of four. Their usual group size returns once the player reaches Rank 5.
  
• The Carpenter perk, which is unavailable on Classic difficulty, is now handled correctly in Sea Stories.
  
• We made several balancing passes on fleet upkeep costs. Your feedback helped us identify the worst outliers, and we are now ready for the economy changes coming in Update 2.0.
  
• Fixed a logic error in The Value of Silence quest. You can now attack Serio directly in the port of Porto Bello without waiting for him to sail into open waters, and doing so will no longer fail the quest.
  
• Improved the display of deadweight overload: the tooltip now calculates the value correctly.
  
• The Repair button at the shipyard is now always active. If no repairs are selected, it will simply close the interface.
  

Fixes

• Fixed an issue that caused forts to stop firing.
  
• Restored the missing ship caliber information in spyglasses.
  
• Cannonballs are now counted correctly in supplies.
  
• Food, rum, and medicine now appear in the same order on the Supplies tab and the world map.
  
• Terrax now correctly checks for a trade license and whether Spanish ports are accessible.
  
• Fixed the interface showing through the exchange screen.
  
• The location-name logic for the ship’s current position now falls back through suitable localization keys in the correct order. No more missing_key entries for coves.
  
• Current maneuverability is now calculated correctly in the interface, including the effects of perks and items.
  
• Rum and medicine descriptions no longer overlap other interface elements.
  
• Fixed pluralization for rounded values with tiny fractional remainders, such as 7.001, on the Ship screen.
  
• Attacking the winner of a jungle encounter now triggers the correct response.
  
• Fixed a rare issue that allowed an empty battery to fire a broadside.
  
• Fixed an issue that could cause a crew that had surrendered during boarding to become hostile again.
  
• The In Search of the Guardian of Truth quest can no longer become blocked by moving rapidly between locations after quest dialogue in Santiago.
