Hello, Generals!
[p align="start"]Hoping you'll enjoy it, I'm sharing the news just released about my new co-op multiplayer FPS game "Home Wars: Battlefield" in development (ADD it to your WISHLIST):"Hello fighters!
How's your summer going? Here in Italy, we're dying of heat; I hope you're feeling better.
Today, I bring you the first in a series of little critters that will make your hair stand on end: the "Araneus diadematus"!
This cute creature is one of the spiders that fall into the "garden spider" category, so rest assured that just a few meters from your safe bedroom chair, there's bound to be one!
Luckily, we're talking about an arachnid just a few millimeters long, almost harmless to humans, and with a distinctive white cross on its large butt, so much so that it's called the "cross spider."
Many of us assume that all spiders spin webs to hunt... false!
Many spiders don't know how to build webs and hunt by chasing their prey.
Of course, both of these categories of arachnids will be present in the game.
In this case, the Diadematus is a great web-builder, so that will be its main weapon, along with the lasers it shoots from its eyes!
Just kidding, no lasers, sorry.
I was thinking of adding the following attacks/abilities to the various spiders in the game that have the natural ability to build webs.
Give me your feedback; it's very important to me.
1) A single "spit" of silk (yes, spider webs are called silk) that does little damage and traps the enemy for a few seconds.
2) Place a web on the ground that serves to greatly slow down enemies that enter it. It could also be made vertical to trap low-flying enemies.
3) Shoot a silk thread that attracts a small enemy.
4) Shoot a silk thread that allows the spider to quickly reach heights and cover distances.
5) Allow spiders to deal more damage to enemies trapped in webs. Damage to these enemies can restore some health.
These are the first ideas that came to mind; I'm counting on you to come up with more!
It would be super cool to allow users to build their own webs, but I'm afraid performance would suffer. I'll look into implementing this in the future.
What do you think? Do you like our new fat-ass friend?
I know the colors aren't realistic, but certain insects are a nightmare to color; they have a thousand different colors, all seemingly randomly placed.
ONE LAST IMPORTANT THING!
Look at the first photo below: can you see how the center line divides two slightly different images of the same spider?
In the one on the left, I applied a "normal map" to give the texture a little depth.
It's very important that you tell me which of the two versions you like better, thanks!
Do you want a military vehicle, a dinosaur, or another insect at the next MEET?
THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG!"
