Greetings Adventurers,
We are closing in on the next big update and a new DLC. We’ve already introduced some new concepts in earlier posts. But in case you missed it we’re giving you a list of general contents further below.
In the near future not only will the Steam Store Page for the DLC go up, but we also have other news to share for that the HoT News Page may not be the first/best place to write.
To not miss the most important news from us regarding other systems and such you can do following:
We intend to have a preview of the free update part at some point of August or September with the update date TBA. A few weeks after it we’ll release the Update & the DLC!
Summary - Free Update:
Kill/Time mode switch. You will be able to play older maps in the same game mode as the Bogland map. The Bogland maps will also get a timer mode. An exception from this is the Vault. This is a new feature in the Shrine of Torment.
Statistics and Records will be available in the compendium. Most stats have been already tracked since the 1.0 release, but we never managed up until now to bring the statistics page. Additionally to that we also started to save records of maps like highest torment score, most kills and quickest finish time. Weapons and characters gain their damage dealt records being entered.
The options enable you to turn on tracking and comparison to your current records during a run as an overlay.
The Challenge Shrine gets added with a weekly seed. You will play one of the five base maps with random artifacts enabled. It can be either kill or time mode. The torment level itself won’t be too high, but during the challenge mode additional spawns will be activated. We are also trying to have a weekly ranking (possibly Steam only) which will display your weekly rank.
Fragile and Affliction will become permanent debuffs that can endlessly stack with higher effect, both affecting damage and effect damage. The difference will be that Affliction can jump between enemies on defeat while Fragile is stronger and stacks entirely disappear after the enemy was defeated.
Balancing of base game abilities, heroes and bogland content. We are aware that at the moment it feels that some abilities and heroes are pretty weak compared to others. While going for a full balance pass on the Archives Content we adjusted some weaker heroes and abilities to match the power output of the stronger ones.
We fixed several crashes and hard bugs that would make players lose progress. These were deep into systems such as the Ice Effect, resource leaks etc. . We will update those fixes with the next main patch to avoid follow up bugs via Hotfixes.
The game became a bit quicker in general from the get go while we reduced the overall speed scaling to make the game less dependent on improving movement speed.
We also fixed many smaller visual glitches and did some QoL improvements. For example we have now an automatic quest selection if none has been selected for the tracking to help new players.
Summary - The Lost Archives

Shields of Vengeance as defensive pushback and retaliation ability.
Blood Rite focussing on its upgrades on HP sacrifices or recovering HP.
6 new Artifacts that will impact the gameplay and also enable you to force more enemies onto the field for extra kills.
