Hello everyone!
Today we have deployed a new version of RUMBLE to the experimental branches across all platforms. This game version comes with early versions of 2 new features.
The idea is to allow you to experience and review these new features before they are fully added to RUMBLE. If you’d like to help us playtest these new features, please follow these instructions in order to gain access to the newest game build:
Instructions
Steam
In your Steam Library, right-click RUMBLE.
In the menu that appears, click “Properties…”.
In the new window, click “Game Versions & Betas”.
Under Private Versions, enter this code: "bvgnhmjyfuhgybtvfjnu" and click "Check Code".
Select the newly appeared game version labelled as: “experimental” by clicking on it.
Done! Steam should automatically start downloading the new build when you close the menu.
Quest
In your Library, point at the RUMBLE app and hold down the trigger until a menu appears.
In that menu, select “Settings”
In the new tab that appears, select “Release channels”
Select the option labelled as “Beta”.
Press “Confirm”.
Done! Now, your headset might not automatically download this new build. If you uninstall RUMBLE by repeating step 1 and selecting “Remove from Library”, you’ll for sure have the new build after installing RUMBLE again.
Horizon Link
Find RUMBLE in the store tab of the Meta Horizon Link application, and click it.
On RUMBLE’s page, scroll down until you find a “Version” option, and click it.
In the new dropdown menu that appears, click the build labelled as “Beta”.
Scroll back up and press the big blue “Update” button.
Done! When it finishes updating, you’ll have access to the new game build.
Now, your feedback concerning the new features is very important to us, which is why we have set up a new channel in our Discord server. This channel, called “Experimental-Feedback”, will be the primary place we keep an eye on to see how you feel about this new content.
So if you’ll be checking out some of the new stuff, please share your thoughts about it with us here: https://discord.gg/zgksTYHsH
Update Content
Structure Walking
It is now possible to stand on and walk across structures, and to affect structures beneath you with modifier moves. These changes allow you to jump atop a wall to then move both it and yourself around the arena, or to throw your opponent out of the ring by giving them a one-way ride on a cube!
These changes completely change how flight works, so be sure to experiment with it and let us know how gameplay feels now!
Also, while working on this feature, we made a discovery that led to a change that should result in the infamous bug commonly referred to as “drifting” now being fixed. Let us know if that’s indeed the case!
Party System
We’ve introduced a new feature to accommodate the commonly expressed desire for the ability to invite players for a match. Using the Phone, you will now be able to send/accept “Party Invitations”. This way you can form groups before you enter Matchmaking or the Park, to then start either activity together.
Currently, matchmaking only supports a maximum party size of 2 players, but if you form groups larger than 2 you can still enter a Park Session together. In the future, when we add team battles, this system will be updated to support just that.
When you are hosting a Party, you can also invite other players through Steam, Meta, and even Discord.
Keep in mind that this experimental build is not bug-free. There are existing issues we know of, and we’re sure you’ll find some that will be new to us. So please, if you find anything, please let us know over on Discord: https://discord.gg/zgksTYHsH
Alright, a big thank you to everyone willing to help us playtest this new content, we look forward to hearing your feedback!
