Hello everyone!

In this FOUNDRY Friday I want to share various improvements of existing features that different team members have been working on.

Increased Map Zoom

In a previous update we already were able to improve the performance on how the map is generated, allowing us to to zoom out the map a tiny bit. But with trains and growing factories it felt like an even better overview of everything was needed. After another round of performance optimizations you can zoom out roughly 4 times more than before!

Zoom level on the right image increased by ~4 times!

Improved Train Management

With the new Trains frame a better overview of your train fleet is guaranteed. There you can find a full list of all your trains and train groups. Clicking on one of the trains reveals its current position on the map and provides some extra interesting info.

Furthermore, clicking on a train station now provides you with real-time information about the station and its related trains. The train list in the side panel contains all trains that have the station anywhere in their schedule.

Assembly Lines

Since we were working on better overviews we tackled another feature where we thought it was lacking: the Assembly Lines. You can now open the Assembly Line Planner (a new UI window) from the start building of your assembly line. This provides you with a step by step instruction on how your product (robot / bot) is supposed to be built.

Configuring your assembly line producers was streamlined: If an assembly line producer is connected to a configured assembly line start building, the UI will skip the selection of the product and immediately bring up the action selection. Also you will be able to see if a producer within the assembly line is already taking care of a production step, making it more obvious which further steps remain to be configured.

Last but not least, the snap mode for assembly lines has been improved, making them more comfortable to be placed.

Another Small Assembly Line Sneak Peek

As already mentioned in our last FOUNDRY Friday we are experimenting with small assembly lines that are used for the production of bots. Here is another proof of concept video:

We hope you’ll enjoy those changes! Let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today. Thanks for tuning in.
