Hey everyone,
This week’s update brings the chunky penultimate chapter in the Expedition storyline – a series of free updates that expand At the Heart of Ruin. The action and the drama really ramps up in this one, and the intrepid vagri accompanying Kharandar’s folks in their journey into the forsaken core of the fallen Dwarven kingdom will have to make some really tough decisions. Although one last part is still missing to conclude the storyline, the expedition is now closer to its destination than ever before, tensions are mounting, while the terror and discoveries of the forgotten western coast will shake even the most stalwart of explorers.
We’ve also collected a few of the highlights since the last major update below, should you be interested in reading about what else we’ve been up to. If, however, you are looking for the detailed patch notes, which also include the fixes and other tweaks, scroll to the end of this article.
Crafting the Riven Realms
On World Art Day, we offered a glimpse into our artistic processes and paid tribute to the incredible work of our artists. From the complexities of character art to the evolution of location and combat visuals, and the way music shapes the atmosphere of the Riven Realms, we explored the many creative layers behind the game.

Vignettes
Speaking of art, in one of our previous patches we introduced vignettes to our visual storytelling in Exploration Encounters. These small ink-on-paper style lineart illustrations accompany bits of text to help evoke atmosphere and immerse players further in the world of Vagrus. Different vignette sets are assigned to Exploration Encounters based on their location, environment, and the foes encountered there.

Life in the Wasteland
The International Day of Biological Diversity has made us think about the Riven Realms in the context of diverse life and how even such a ruined place might have a chance for a revival. While the Empire has not made outstanding efforts to heal the continent after it was devastated by the mad Elder Gods, plant and animal life has found ways to persist in the new, changed world on its own. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than in the greatly varied creatures that dwell in the Riven Realms.

Sale season
Summer is here and we could not be happier about this new chapter at Lost Pilgrims. We are celebrating with a major discount on Steam and other platforms, so do not miss them if you have been waiting to start your journey in the Riven Realms or you are looking to pick up one of our DLCs or expansions.

And with all that said, it is time to take a look at the patch notes, which you can find below.
Important Note: Considering the extent of the improvements, there is little to no chance that we broke nothing in the process. Assume that we did not want to make anyone's life harder. If you see something amiss, please flag it to us using the usual channels, like the inbuilt reporting tool (F1 button), forums, and our Discord server.
