Good evening everyone!

During the development of Night 5, we had multiple time periods where we had to wait on certain work to finish. At the same time, we were bringing some voice actors back to reprise their roles for the next night. So with those things in mind, we thought that it would be a great opportunity to revisit the 2nd night and give it some much needed love.

Night 2 was released in the very first early access version of the game. While it overall turned out to be a decent night, back then we ended up rushing some aspects of it to meet certain time constraints. Over time, we addressed some of its rougher parts by improving the gameplay mechanics and graphical fidelity.

However, with this update, we're finally leveling up Night 2 and bringing it in line with the other nights. So, what has changed for Night 2 in this update?

Improved character dialogue

All of Night 2's dialogue has been polished and rerecorded with most of the original cast! The main plot has remained the same, but with the new dialogue, we made the character conversations more natural and gave some characters a better chance to shine. It has been quite a while since the original recording, and the original voice actors for Tom and Mark have moved on to different things and weren't able to reprise their roles. But luckily, Josh Portillo has joined the voice cast of TTFA and has done an amazing job at portraying both Tom AND Mark! Josh is a really talented actor, and it was awesome to work with him. We think you'll really enjoy his awesome performances for both characters in the game.

Also, special thanks to RiceCat for helping with the script polishing!

Optional flashbacks

Another issue that we wanted to address on the second night is that it felt a bit empty in certain places. There are many cool locations on Pintree Island, but some of them didn't have anything that made them worth visiting.

So to address this issue, we came up with a cool idea for some flashbacks between the main character John and his colleagues on Pinetree Island.

You'll come across John's colleagues (Daisy, Ethan, Mark, Tom, Cate) by visiting some of the main locations on Pinetree Island. Once you do, it is totally up to you if you want to engage with them or not. If you decide to interact with them, simply walk closer to them and they will trigger a brief flashback of a moment that happened the other day. These flashbacks can range from simple small-talk to interesting conversations that could hint or reveal more about each character...

And for those players who want to be the best colleagues - visiting all 5 character flashbacks will unlock a new achievement "Know your Colleagues".

Color grading and other visual updates

We updated the color grading for all the dream segments to give them a better distinction from the falling asleep segments. Throughout the dream levels, we also touched-up some textures, improved some models and added more detail in certain areas.

Other updates

Thanks for reading this through! We know you are patiently waiting for the next big night - rest assured, it is coming and we are working hard to make it the best it can be and make it available to you as soon as it is ready. Please stay tuned for more news from us about the next night. Until then, we hope you'll enjoy the improvements to Night 2!

Good night,

AD team
