We’ve finally reached Screamer System 2.0. In addition to the basic “preparatory” screamers, we’ve now added screamers with animals and monsters. Honestly, this probably should’ve made it in before release, but fate had other plans. We're looking forward to your feedback!
Oh, and of course—our classic patch notes. This past week, softlocks and blockers have barely shown up in Trello, which feels like a good sign. The ones that do appear are extremely difficult to reproduce. Here's a short list:
- Blocking during blood collection: It took us two days to track this one down. We've fixed it multiple times, and every time we see it pop up in Trello again, it’s a tragedy. The issue turned out to be in the AI action system architecture—on very rare occasions, it would trigger two actions at once for animals. The same bug was causing issues with petting and parasite vomiting. Fixed.
- Parasite screamer fix: It was blocking controls during location transitions. Now resolved.
- Giraffe bossfight trigger after tutorial: If you initially shot the wrong giraffe, the bossfight now still starts. This wasn’t exactly a bug, but rather a gap in game design—since all giraffes appear healthy, it's hard to tell which one is infected, as the infected animal only mimics external symptoms.
- We’ve also made several minor level design adjustments to fix animal pathing and stuck issues.
We hope the upgraded screamer system makes things even scarier. Be careful—monsters in the hallways can kill you too!
