To be completely honest, when we said we underestimated the size of Chapter 5, we had no idea just how much we underestimated it... Starting August 8, we've been fully focused on completing Lin's storyline for this chapter. It seemed like it wouldn’t be too hard, and we even managed to delight you with two updates featuring HCG scenes along the way. There was just a little left to do—or so we thought. Turns out, we were wrong.
A lot has happened since then. We reevaluated our approach to developing the game, added tons of new content, and reworked a lot of the mechanics under the game's hood. Heck, we even upgraded to a new version of our game engine for the first time in ages!
In today’s update, we focused on releasing the missing interaction scenes with Lin at the pool. That means two brand-new HCG scenes! But that’s not all! We’ve also translated the game into several new languages. Let’s go through it all step by step:
What’s New:
- An ungodly amount of new code, dialogue, and translations (seriously, it’s physically impossible to count—we’ve made over 60 GitHub commits just related to code and dialogue).
- Two new HCG scenes featuring Lin.
- A total of 30 new HCG images for the two scenes.
- Completely reworked character galleries. Oh man, my eye twitches just thinking about how much effort and trial-and-error this took. It was tough.
- Two new localization languages: German and Chinese. Yes, you heard that right—two new languages! The translations were done using automated tools since we don’t speak these languages ourselves, but hey, they’re here and they work! It’s kind of a miracle.
- Tons of fixes for English translation issues.
- New sprites for toys from Jenna’s shop.
- Removed two achievements (they were hard to obtain and buggy anyway, plus Steam doesn’t let us have more than 100 achievements... We might remove a few more in the future if they’re not relevant).
- Added two new achievements tied to the new content!
- Added technical support for future DLC.
Important Note:: Using old save files may cause unexpected bugs. We strongly recommend starting a new game.
This update is another one of those that we’d love to call the biggest ever, as we’ve poured so much effort into it over the past few months. However, the previous major update still holds the crown. That said, this one takes a well-earned second place!
