Real questions, answered from attributed community guides — no folklore.
I just entered the Lands Between and feel overwhelmed. What should I do first?
You have a near limitless number of options, so start by thinking about what weapons, armor, or spells you want. Find a Site of Grace, meet Melina and Torrent, mark destinations on your map, and don’t waste too much time fighting things you don’t need to.
Do I have to fight every enemy I see?
No. Torrent makes roaming much faster and safer, letting you zip past powerful knights and soldiers before they can attack you.
How should I level my character early on?
One recommendation is to take a stat you’re using to 20 quickly, then focus on survivability and utility before pushing that stat higher later. Some build routes focus on gathering key items, upgrades, and stats early so your character becomes strong enough to finish the game without a full walkthrough.
Is it worth pushing a stat all the way to 80?
The excerpts repeatedly suggest that 80 is not usually a worthwhile goal. For Strength specifically, one guide says it is still worth leveling to 60 because of physical defense, even though damage gains past 54 are small.
What should I do when a boss feels like a brick wall?
Learn the enemy’s moveset and think about your response: dodge, block and guard counter, or sprint away. Also watch for whether a predictable combo changes in phase 2.
Are guard counters useful?
Yes, especially in PvE and boss fights. Block the last hit of an enemy’s attack chain, then guard counter to deal big posture damage and potentially knock the enemy down.
Should I use a shield?
The excerpts mention heater shields and beast crest shields as useful because they support strong guard counter play. Blocking the right hit and countering can be faster than charged heavy attacks and often uses less stamina than jump attacks.
How can I handle annoying groups or dangerous enemies safely?
Use arrows or bolts to lure enemies away from large groups or to apply status conditions from afar. Some enemies are weak to specific damage types, so keeping options like fire or Strike damage available can help.
How do I deal with the crawling hand enemies in Caria Manor?
Hitting finger creepers with fire does massive damage and stuns them for a long time. The excerpts suggest fire pots or a weapon with Fire or Flame Art affinity.
Does armor really matter, or should I just wear anything?
Armor value depends on many stats, conditions, and small variables that add up together. Don’t judge a set by only one number; things like physical negation, magic negation, and even a bonus such as extra Faith can matter.
What are boiled prawns for?
The excerpts describe boiled prawns, and later boiled crab, as useful for damage negation or physical defense. One note says buying a bunch of boiled prawns gives a gesture, then helping Boggart against Magma Wyrm Makar and meeting him at Leyndell’s moat leads to “proper damage negating goodness.”
Where do I find Rogier?
Rogier can initially be found in Stormveil Castle. From Rampart Tower, go down the stairs, cross the rooftops to the ladder, and go left instead of right toward the Grafted Scion.
What happens to Rogier after Godrick?
After you defeat Godrick the Grafted, Rogier moves to the Roundtable Hold. Speaking to him gives you Rogier’s Rapier +8, and his questline then requires finding his bloodstain.
When does Latenna’s quest continue?
Outside of summoning her as a Spirit Ash, the next part mentioned is in the Mountaintop of the Giants. North of the Erdtree in that area, Latenna will speak unprompted and point you toward Castle Sol, where the second half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion, the Left half, can be found.
Are there missable quest or item lockouts I should worry about?
Some guide notes are marked uncertain, but they warn about things like NPC disappearance, not exhausting dialogue, and possible lockouts around Stormveil, Godrick, Great Runes, or the Haligtree Secret Medallion. The safest advice from the excerpts is to speak to important NPCs as soon as possible and exhaust dialogue when a quest advances.
