Patches is first encountered as a boss in Murkwater Cave in Limgrave, where opening a chest in the final cavern causes him to appear and attack. After being reduced to about 1/4 HP, he surrenders; continuing the fight forces a kill and ends his questline, rewarding his armor, +7 spear, and Patches Bell Bearing for the Twin Maiden Husks.
